National Geographic Books and The Foundation for Deep Ecology will be using several of my photographs from India in upcoming books. I'm honored and appreciative to have my work used by these two great publishers.

I've been working on the Eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland, and with the wild horses of Assateague Island on the Maryland Coast. I will be posting photos soon. See my blog for more.

I've re-done the keywords for all of my photographs, and added hundreds of new keywords to the Keywords Page in the Photo Library.

I launched a blog for the first time. Check it out! It's right up in the main menu bar. I'll be sharing photos, stories, and updates. You can subscribe to the RSS feed to receive updates. I've also re-done the keywords for all of my photographs, and added hundreds of new keywords to the Keywords Page in the Photo Library.

I also finished populating my India photo library with images. There are 36 galleries with about 2,000 photographs, and you can use the search and keyword tools to browse all 4,300 photographs from India. Among the highlights are more than 500 different candid, intimate portraits of everyday people from different cities in Rajasthan, as well as hundreds of images of people working with their hands in different crafts and industries.

I'm working on several video productions about the California Redwoods, the Klamath Basin Wetlands, and stray dogs in India.

I'm excited to post a few videos from my work in India. The first video visits Pushkar during the camel fair, and the second is a tour of people working in handcrafts in different Rajasthani cities.

I finished a website revision job for Mirjam Letsch, a Danish photographer and the founder of Duniya, a program that provides education and health care assistance to impoverished communities in India and Vietnam. Mirjam has excellent photographs from India, Vietnam, and elsewhere. The site is an integration of Photoshelter and Wordpress. If you're one of the 70,000 Photoshelter users and need site work done, drop me a line. Please visit the Duniya site and also check out Mirjam's great photography.

I added a section about my work with stray dogs in India to the Projects Page. There are millions of strays in India, and they often are in bad shape. I rescued a dog named Mojo there and documented the outstanding work of the Tree of Life for Animals (TOLFA) rescue center in Pushkar. See the projects page for photos, eBooks, and more, and support the work of TOLFA.

I made a brief trip to the Monteverde Cloud Forest, Costa Rica, where I've worked over the years.

The Embassy of Peru in Washington, DC used a variety of my photographs of Cusco for the Peruvian art and culture event "Makiykumanta," which took place in mid-July at the National Museum of the American Indian. Be sure to visit my Cusco galleries!

I'm working on implementing an interactive map for the Open Space Institute in New York. OSI protects farms and natural areas throughout the East. I've also done a lot of field work for OSI. I'm also working on a Google Earth-based video about the Columbia Highlands in Washington, for the group Conservation Northwest.

I've been working on a number of books about the Klamath National Wildlife Refuges, Cape Baboons, and South African fynbos.

I spent the winter shooting in forests and prairies in Maryland during the historic snow storms.

I've added a new fynbos photo gallery from the Wildcliff Nature Reserve in the Langeberg Range of South Africa. This gallery showcases the beautiful "fynbos" ecosystem there. As in all other galleries all flowers are wild. These photos were taken in a very remote location that few people have ever seen.

I've been documenting remnant forests, wetlands, and prairies in suburban Maryland.

I've added about 700 new photographs to the galleries, featuring all new galleries from Oregon, South Africa, and Peru. I have also added new photos to most of the existing galleries.

I've been working on creating interactive maps for conservation groups on the East and West coasts.

I documented family farms and natural areas in the Catskills of New York State for the Open Space Institute in NYC, and worked on a variety of mapping and aerial photo projects for different conservation groups.

I documented critically endangered Chacma Baboons on the Cape Peninsula of South Africa, in partnership with Baboon Matters, the principal NGO in the region. I also documented the Wildcliff Nature Reserve, near Heidelberg, South Africa.

Spring and Summer 2008
I was in Peru for four months, carrying out independent work in the Andes and shooting for the World Wildlife Fund AREAS Project in the headwaters of the Amazon on the Tambopata River.

I worked in the Las Nubes Rainforest Reserve in Costa Rica for York University, Ontario, Canada. The photos, in combination with my Las Nubes photos from 2003/2004, will be the subject of my second book, to be published by York University.

I worked for the Cascadia Wildlands Project on the Lost Coast, Alaska photographing remote wilderness areas that have been opened to logging in recent years.

I worked in the Klamath National Wildlife Refuges in Oregon and California.

I was in Costa Rica photographing the Monteverde Preserve for the Tropical Science Center for of a coffee table book about the Preserve.

I spent the winter in Costa Rica photographing the Las Nubes and Los Cusingos Reserves for the The Fisher Fund for Neotropical Conservation and the Tropical Science Center.

I documented fire issues for the National Park Service in Yosemite NP.

I was in Peru traveling around the country and taking photographs, including a spectacular week-long backpacking trip high in the Andes among 20,000 foot peaks.

I worked in the Great Bear Rainforest on the mid-coast of British Columbia taking photographs and doing web design for Forest Action Network in Bella Coola.

I worked in the Monteverde Preserve in Costa Rica. This was my second trip to Monteverde, the first was as a volunteer in 1999.

Costa Ricato Guatemala, and spent one month working to support Navajo and Hopi families on the Hopi Reservation in Arizona.
